In this article, I will try to explain the main differences between a hoverboard and a segway. Advantages and disadvantages, recommendations, etc. I’m not going to explain what the devices really are, I think the person looking for the difference is well acquainted with both devices.

I’ll start with a story that clearly shows that the inventor of the hoverboard, Shane Chen (American-Chinese), invented his product based on the segway. He modified it so that the steering wheel, which provided control at the segway, would not be at the ahoverboard.

For segways, engine performance, heavy terrain (thanks to the steering wheel and larger wheels) and maximum speed are dominant.

On the other hand, mini segways are much lighter, more storable, portable and comparable to a segway for maximum speed. Designed for a wider range of people. And what is important in many cases is much, much more affordable.
