These electric scooters and e-scooters are allowed on the road

Almost all electric scooters, segways, hoverboards and crazy mopeds with an (electric) motor are not allowed to drive on public roads, but this list is an exception.

In the United Kingdom, a vehicle with (electric) motor drive is only allowed on the road if it is approved as a moped. The Lower House has made an exception for Segway-like vehicles, because they can be just as safe as a moped, but cannot pass the same inspection. These vehicles can obtain permission from the Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment and the RDW via the police rules

However, it was unclear which vehicles fall under this 'special moped' scheme. Bright.nl has received an overview from the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.

First the Segway itself. For all models with a high handlebar it has road approval. These are the Segway  and x2 SE and the Ninebot by Segway E + . For all other products, such as the KickScooter, MiniPro, MiniPlus and ONE S2 scooter, it is not authorized.

Competitors of Segway, Paukool and Robstep Robin-M1 are also allowed on public roads.
